Some softening in mustard prices due to sporadic arrival of new goodsMarket Overview:
The mustard market has experienced some softening in prices due to the sporadic arrival of new mustard crops, particularly in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The pace of new harvests is expected to pick up significantly in March, which will help ease the supply and availability situation in various markets. Despite a decrease in the national sowing area for mustard, the crop's condition is reported to be satisfactory.

- Note: Each bag weighs 50 kg.
Mustard Cake (DOC):
- The market for mustard cake and DOC remained weak during the week, leading to price declines.
- The price of mustard cake in Delhi fell by Rs 30 to Rs 140 per quintal.
- Mustard DOC prices softened by Rs 200 to Rs 500 per tonne in some mills in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Outlook:
- The supply of mustard is expected to increase as the new harvest comes in, with the highest arrival period anticipated from March to May.
- The minimum support price for mustard for the 2024-25 season has been set at Rs 5950 per quintal.
This overview shows a typical fluctuation in the mustard market due to seasonality and supply-demand dynamics, with the expectation of more stable prices as the new crop enters the market.
