Despite normal arrival and government procurement, mustard prices soften
New Delhi. Although the average daily arrival of mustard in the mandis of major producing states has come down from 10-12 lakh bags (each bag of 50 kg) to the normal level of 5-6 lakh bags and government agencies are also buying it well from the farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 5950 per quintal, despite this, during the week of April 12-18, in most of the mandis, the prices of one of the most important oilseed crops of the Rabi season softened by Rs 100-200 per quintal. Only in Gujarat the prices remained strong.
42% condition mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42 percent condition mustard fell by Rs 75 to Rs 6125 per quintal in Delhi and slipped by Rs 50 to Rs 6325 per quintal in Jaipur. In most of the markets of Haryana, the price of mustard remained at the previous level. According to a government spokesperson, about 5 lakh tonnes of mustard has been purchased from farmers at MSP in Haryana, while the process of purchase is still going on.
Madhya Pradesh
In Morena, Porsa and Gwalior of Madhya Pradesh, the price of mustard fell by Rs 100-125 per quintal, due to which its price has come very close to the MSP. There, the demand of traders and millers was seen to be somewhat sluggish. In Hapur Mandi of Uttar Pradesh, mustard remained stable at the old level, but in Agra it fell by Rs 50 to Rs 6675/6900.
Rajasthan
In the most prominent producing state- Rajasthan, some fluctuations were recorded in the price of mustard. There, its price improved by Rs 100 to Rs 5650/5700 per quintal in Ganganagar, but came down by Rs 85 in Bharatpur and Rs 100 per quintal in Tonk.
Mustard Oil
Demand for mustard oil remained weak while millers have more stock. As a result, the price of expeller and Kachi Ghani oil declined by Rs 10-20 per 10 kg. In Agra, the price of Kachi Ghani mustard oil fell by Rs 40 to Rs 1360 per 10 kg. In Morena too, it fell by Rs 20. There, the price of expeller also fell by Rs 20.
Arrival
Arrival of mustard in the markets of major producing states was recorded at 5.25 lakh bags on April 12, 5 lakh bags on April 14, 7.25 lakh bags on April 15, 6.75 lakh bags on April 16, 6.50 lakh bags on April 17 and 6.25 lakh bags on April 18.
Rapeseed Meal
Although the export of rapeseed meal fell sharply in the financial year 2024-25 as compared to 2023-24, now the export is expected to increase with the help of better demand from China.
