Mustard prices rise due to low arrival and good buying
New Delhi. Due to strong demand from crushers-processors and traders/stockists and less than normal arrival in the markets, there is a good up-strength environment in the prices of mustard. There is also good demand for mustard oil and the business of oil cake has started improving.
42% condition mustard
During the week of 28 June-4 July, the price of 42 percent condition mustard improved by Rs 100 to Rs 6750 per quintal in Delhi and increased by Rs 150 to Rs 7100 per quintal in Jaipur.
Mustard
The price of normal average quality mustard also increased by Rs 100-200 per quintal, while in Sirsa Mandi of Haryana it jumped by Rs 400 to Rs 6600 per quintal. The price also increased by Rs 150 in other mandis of the state. In Madhya Pradesh's Mandis- Morena, Porsa and Gwalior, mustard prices increased by 50 to 150 rupees per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh/Rajasthan
Prices also improved by 50-75 rupees in Hapur and Agra Mandi of Uttar Pradesh. In the most important producing state- Rajasthan, the price of mustard was Rs. 130 in Ganganagar and Rs. 50 in Kota, while it was strong in other mandis including Bharatpur, Alwar and Bikaner.
Mustard Oil
Due to the rising environment in the price of mustard, the price of mustard oil also registered a huge increase of 40-50 rupees per 10 kg. This includes both categories of oil- expeller and Kachi Ghani. In Delhi, the price of expeller increased by 40 rupees to 1490 rupees per 10 kg and in Charkhi Dadri it increased by 42 rupees to 1507 rupees per 10 kg. In most of the centers, the price of mustard oil has reached above 150 rupees per kg. In Kolkata, the price of Kachi Ghani mustard oil jumped by Rs 80 to a high of Rs 1580 per 10 kg. In Bikaner, expeller rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1500.
Arrival
At the national level, the arrival of mustard in important mandis of major states was recorded at 3.75 lakh bags on June 28, 4.25 lakh bags on June 30, 3.25 lakh bags on July 1, 2.00 lakh bags on July 2, 3.50 lakh bags on July 3 and 4 lakh bags on July 4, while each bag weighs 50 kg.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
During the week under review, there was some softening in the prices of mustard cake as the business could not reach the expected level. There was limited trading in mustard DOC and the price remained stable.
