Paddy prices weaken due to limited demand from rice millers and exporters
New Delhi. The supply of paddy (especially Basmati) is decreasing in the major markets of North India, but still its prices fell by Rs 100-200 per quintal during the week of June 6 to 12.
Delhi
In Delhi's Narela Mandi, the price of 1718 paddy fell by Rs 100 and the price of Taj fell by Rs 75 to Rs 4100 per quintal and Rs 2650 per quintal respectively. Sharbati paddy also remained soft by Rs 100.
Chhattisgarh
On the other hand, in Chhattisgarh's Bhatpara Mandi, the price of Shriram new paddy fell by Rs 100 to Rs 3300 per quintal and in Rajim, the price of Mahamaya fell by Rs 300 and the price of BPT fell by Rs 120 to Rs 2350 per quintal and Rs 2380 per quintal respectively.
Rajasthan
In Bundi, Rajasthan, the price of number 1509 fell by Rs 50 and the price of Sugandha and 1847 fell by Rs 100 each. In Kota, the price of paddy saw a rise and fall of Rs 50. But in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, the price of number 1718 rose by Rs 125 to Rs 4150/4250 per quintal. The off-season of paddy supply is going on, so in many mandis, there is no or negligible supply of goods. In the mandis of other states of the country, a slight fluctuation in the price of paddy was recorded amid limited business.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, its market has improved somewhat. In Bhatpara, the price of Shriram rice increased by Rs 100 and the price of Vishnu Bhog Naya increased by Rs 200 to Rs 6300 per quintal and Rs 6100/6200 per quintal respectively. But in Amritsar, Punjab, the price of different varieties of Basmati rice fell by 50 to 250 rupees. Under this, the price of 1718 steam fell by 250 rupees, 1509 steam by 200 rupees and 1121 sella by 100 rupees per quintal.
Chhattisgarh
In Rajim Mandi, most varieties of rice rose by 50 to 250 rupees per quintal, but the price of BPT semi-sella and Shriram semi-sella rice fell by 350 rupees to 3600 rupees per quintal and 4350 rupees per quintal respectively. The price of rice remained stable in Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, but there was a decline of 150-250 rupees in Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan.
Haryana / Delhi
In Karnal Mandi of Haryana, except for one or two kilos, no change was seen in the price of the remaining rice. In Delhi's Naya Bazar, the price of 1121 Sela fell by Rs 200 to Rs 7800 per quintal and the price of 1509 Steam fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6900/7400 per quintal. The price of rice remained almost stable in other markets.
