Limited fluctuations in paddy-rice due to low arrival and normal business
New Delhi. Except for a few centers, the arrival of paddy in most of the mandis of the country is very low and limited fluctuations are being seen in its price as per the demand of millers and exporters. The sowing of Kharif paddy will start from next month.
Arrival
At present, new goods of Rabi paddy are arriving in some states. During the week of 17 to 23 May, between 7 to 10 thousand sacks of paddy arrived daily in Delhi's Narela Mandi and there was a slight increase in prices. Under this, the price of 1121 paddy increased by Rs 90 to Rs 4340 per quintal, the price of 1509 hand increased by Rs 121 to Rs 3121 per quintal and the price of 1718 improved by Rs 52 to reach Rs 3770 per quintal. But the price of 1847 paddy remained soft by 50 rupees.
Chhattisgarh
500-700 bags of paddy were supplied daily in Bhatapada Mandi of Chhattisgarh and due to less buying, the prices remained stable. But in Rajim Mandi, with daily arrival of 8 to 12 thousand bags, the demand remained weak and due to this prices saw a decline of 30 to 70 rupees per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Basmati paddy is being supplied especially in the markets of Mainpuri, Jahangirabad, Shahjahanpur and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. Due to good business, prices saw an improvement of 50-100 rupees per quintal.
Haryana
There is no or negligible arrival of paddy in the markets of Haryana. But 10-15 thousand bags of paddy were supplied daily in Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan and 4-5 thousand bags of paddy were supplied in Kota Mandi. The price remained soft there. The price of paddy remained stable in Gondia Mandi of Maharashtra with a daily arrival of 3 thousand sacks.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, its price was seen stable at the old level in many mandis. In recent weeks, the global market price of Basmati rice has increased and India faces a challenge only from Pakistan in its export, while the condition of its export shipment from there is bad. The export price of non-Basmati or general category rice remains stable with slight fluctuations. There is a huge stock of exportable rice in India and the exchange rate of rupee against dollar is also favorable, but still the demand remains weak in the importing countries.
Amritsar
During the week, the price of Basmati rice increased by Rs 100-150 per quintal in Amritsar and Rs 100-300 per quintal in Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand. The price of rice also improved by Rs 50-75 in Bundi, Rajasthan. There was stability in Karnal market of Haryana, but in Naya Bazar of Delhi, the price of most varieties and categories of rice increased by Rs 100 to Rs 200 per quintal.
