Limited demand leads to less ups and downs in paddy but better business in rice
New Delhi. Millers-processors have a good stock of paddy, so despite limited supply in major producing markets, due to less lifting, there is no much ups and downs in its prices. But now there is hope of good demand for rice in African countries because the stock of previously imported goods is decreasing. Meanwhile, the Iran Israel war has also stopped. Due to which the exporters of Basmati rice are breathing a sigh of relief.
Arrival
During the week of 21-27 June, with daily arrival of 2000-3000 bags in Delhi's Narela Mandi, the price of only 1509 hand paddy fell by Rs 75 to Rs 2925 per quintal, while the prices of the remaining varieties remained stable. There was an average daily supply of 4000-6500 bags of paddy in Bhatapara Mandi of Chhattisgarh and 4000-8000 bags in Rajim Mandi and some improvement was recorded in the prices.
Uttar Pradesh
In Jahangirabad, Uttar Pradesh, the price of 1509 paddy increased by Rs 100 to Rs 2650/2950 per quintal. In most of the mandis, there is no or negligible arrival of paddy and hence the business is also almost stagnant.
Rajasthan
Some changes were seen in the prices in Bundi and Kota Mandi of Rajasthan. In Bundi, the price of 1718 paddy jumped by Rs 250 to Rs 3350 per quintal and the price of 1847 increased by Rs 194 to Rs 3050 per quintal. There was good business in this. But in Kota, the price of Sugandha paddy decreased by Rs 100 to Rs 2200/2500 per quintal.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, the price of HMT and Swarna in Bhatpara fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 5500 per quintal and Rs 2700 per quintal respectively. Prices softened due to availability of sufficient stock and weak demand from buyers.
Amritsar
But in Amritsar, 1509 Sell rice improved by Rs 100 to Rs 6000/6050 per quintal and 1718 Sela rice increased by Rs 250 to Rs 6700/6750 per quintal. 1401 Steam rice also saw a rise of Rs 200. Disawari traders as well as exporters remained active there.
Uttarakhand
Generally, the price of rice in the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand softened by Rs 100-200 per quintal. But in Bundi and Karnal, some varieties of rice registered a rise of Rs 200-300 per quintal.
Delhi
In Delhi's Naya Bazar, prices of most varieties and categories of rice increased by Rs 100-200 per quintal.
