Limited improvement in the price of paddy-rice with normal business
New Delhi. With limited rice and normal business in major mandis, some increase was recorded in the price of paddy during the week of 28 June-4 July.
Delhi
Daily arrival of paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi decreased to 1000-2000 bags and only 1509 hand paddy was bought and sold, due to which its price increased by 230 rupees to 3000 rupees per quintal.
Chhattisgarh
In Chhattisgarh's Bhatpara Mandi, 3000-4000 bags of paddy were supplied daily and the price of Mahamaya paddy improved by 100 rupees to 2100-2200 rupees per quintal. There was also a daily arrival of 2000-4000 bags of paddy in Rajim Mandi and prices remained almost stable.
Rajasthan
The arrival of paddy in Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan has reduced considerably while good demand was seen from millers and exporters. As a result, the price of 1718 paddy increased by Rs 170 to Rs 3400/3520 per quintal and the price of 1847 increased by Rs 125 to Rs 3025 per quintal. In Kota Mandi also, paddy supply is being done in limited quantity and the business is also normal or less.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, the price of HMT in Bhatpara Mandi fell by Rs 100 but the price of gold improved by Rs 100 per quintal. Export shipment of Basmati rice is happening normally in other countries except Iran. Uncertainty still persists about Iran. Similarly, the demand for normal or non-Basmati category rice is expected to increase in African countries as the stock of huge imports made there during February-March has now started decreasing. The exchange rate of rupee against dollar also remains favorable for rice business. In the global market, Indian rice is currently at a very competitive level compared to other supplier countries.
Punjab / Amritsar
In Amritsar, Punjab, especially Basmati rice is doing well, due to which the price of some varieties increased by Rs 100 per quintal.
Uttarakhand
But in the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, the price came down by Rs 100-200 per quintal because the rice business weakened there due to torrential rains and traffic disruptions. In Bundi, Rajasthan, the price of 1718 Sela rice also fell by Rs 200 to Rs 6425/6450 per quintal.
Delhi
In Delhi's Naya Bazar, due to limited business in most varieties and categories of rice, prices remained stable, but the price of 1718 Sela fell by Rs 200 to Rs 6400/6500 per quintal, while the price of Taj Sela increased by Rs 200 to Rs 4800/5200 per quintal.
