Limited improvement in the prices of paddy-rice amid normal business

New Delhi. In most of the mandis, there is no or negligible arrival of paddy and hence its business has shrunk considerably. Due to this, not much movement is being seen in the prices.
Delhi
During the week of 2-8 August, daily arrival of paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi was between 3 to 5 thousand bags and the price of only 1509 hands improved by 30 rupees and reached 2950 rupees per quintal. In Chhattisgarh's Bhatpara Mandi, the price of Mahamaya paddy reached 2200 rupees per quintal with an increase of 100 rupees amid daily arrival of 6 to 9 thousand bags. There was daily arrival of 8-10 thousand bags of paddy in Rajim Mandi, but the atmosphere of stability in prices remained.
Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur Mandi, earlier 5000 bags of paddy were being supplied which later reduced to 1500 bags. Similarly, in Rajasthan's Bundi Mandi, the daily arrival of paddy reduced to 1000 bags. The price of Sugandha increased by Rs 200 to Rs 2700/2800 per quintal.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, its prices have improved by Rs 100-200 per quintal. The export offer price of Indian rice has come down to the lowest level in the last one and a half years, due to which its global demand is expected to increase.
Tariff
In the US, a tariff of 25 percent has been imposed on Indian products from August 7, so there is a possibility of Indian rice exports being affected there. But exports to Britain may increase. The demand for Basmati rice in West Asia and Gulf countries and coarse rice in African countries is expected to remain strong, which will benefit India. India is also going to get Bangladesh's rice import tender.
Bhatpara / Amritsar
Due to the demand of buyers, the price of Shriram rice in Bhatpara increased by Rs 100 to Rs 6000/6100 per quintal, while other varieties of rice remained stable. In Amritsar too, there was no change in the price of most varieties of rice, but the price of PR 11 improved by Rs 125 to Rs 4200/4250 per quintal. In the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, the price of rice fluctuated by Rs 100/150 per quintal.
Haryana / Rajasthan
While the price of rice remained strong in Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan. But in Haryana's benchmark Karnal market, the price of 1509 Sela increased by Rs 100 and 1509 Sela rice improved by Rs 100 to reach Rs 5800/6100 per quintal, but the price of 1718 Sela rice fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6400/6600 per quintal.
