Paddy softens due to weak demand from millers-processors: Rice business normal
New Delhi. During the current Kharif season, the total paddy production area has jumped to an all-time high of 438.28 lakh hectares, which is 19.62 lakh hectares more than the area of 418.66 lakh hectares during the same period last year and about 35 lakh hectares more than the normal average area of 403.30 lakh hectares.
Punjab / Haryana
But there is a possibility of damage to the Basmati paddy crop especially due to the floods in Punjab-Haryana. However, the condition of the crop is said to be satisfactory in states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Rainfall in eastern India has been 20 percent less than the long-term average and lack of rain is also being felt in some areas of the southern states. The condition of the crop is satisfactory in other areas. The paddy business has slowed down. The supply of its new goods will start from next month and the buyers are focused on it. Basmati rice crop has suffered some damage in Punjab.
Narela
During the week of 6 to 12 September, the arrival of rice in Delhi's Narela Mandi kept increasing and reached 13,000 bags on 12 September. Farmers are trying to sell their old stock before the harvesting of the new crop, but there is not much demand for it in the mandis. The price of 1509 hand rice in Narela Mandi fell by Rs 99 to Rs 3102 per quintal. The price of Mahmaya rice in Bhatpara Mandi of Chhattisgarh also fell by Rs 100 to Rs 2200 per quintal. The price of 1509 rice in Amritsar, Punjab fell by Rs 248 and got stuck at Rs 2700/3181 per quintal.
Incoming
Daily arrival of rice was recorded between 5-6 thousand bags in Bhatpara and 16-20 thousand bags in Amritsar. There, the arrival of paddy has started increasing rapidly in Tarn Taran as well. On 6 September, 10 thousand sacks of paddy arrived in Tarn Taran, which increased to 25000 sacks on 12 September. In Jahangirabad of Uttar Pradesh, the arrival of paddy also increased to 10 thousand sacks. The same situation was seen in Shahjahanpur, Aligarh and Khair Mandi. Harvesting of 1509 paddy starts earlier.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, its price remained stable in most of the mandis, but in Amritsar, the price of 1509 steam fell by Rs 250 to Rs 6800/6850 per quintal.
Uttarakhand / Rajasthan
In the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, the prices of rice of different varieties and categories increased by Rs 100-200 per quintal. In Bundi of Rajasthan, there was a fluctuation of Rs 100, but in the benchmark Karnal Mandi of Haryana, the price of some varieties of rice increased by Rs 200. There was also a rise of Rs 100-200 per quintal in Delhi's Naya Bazar.
