Weekly Review-Peanuts

The price of peanuts in the markets of Uttar Pradesh decreased by Rs 100-200

Market Overview: The price of peanuts in Uttar Pradesh has seen a notable decline of Rs. 100-200, with a continued pressure on prices in markets like Jhansi, Mahoba, and Mauranipur. The situation remains challenging for farmers, who are being compelled to sell their produce well below the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Meanwhile, government procurement has largely stalled.

Arrival:

  • Gondal and Rajkot Mandi (Gujarat):
    • Gondal: 13-14 thousand bags/day (Price: Rs. 5000-5700 per quintal)
    • Rajkot: 6-7 thousand bags/day (Price: Rs. 6000-8000 per quintal)
    • The MSP for peanuts for the 2024-25 season is Rs. 6783 per quintal. However, prices in these key markets remain below the MSP.
  • Uttar Pradesh Markets (Jhansi, Mahoba, Mauranipur):
    • Jhansi: 10-15 thousand bags/day (Price: Rs. 4000-4400 per quintal, Rs. 100 decrease)
    • Mahoba: 9-10 thousand bags/day (No significant price change)
    • Mauranipur: Price decrease by Rs. 200, with prices ranging from Rs. 4100-4300 per quintal.

Grains:

  • Limited trading activity was observed in peeled groundnut grains, with weak demand from millers and exporters, resulting in stable prices throughout the week.

Groundnut Oil:

  • Gujarat: The price of loose groundnut oil softened by Rs. 25 per 10 kg due to weak demand.
  • Other States:
    • Branded groundnut oil in Kota saw a price increase of Rs. 25 per 10 kg.
    • Filtered groundnut oil in Jaipur rose by Rs. 80 per 10 kg.

Peanut DOC (De-oiled Cake):

  • Weak demand for peanut DOC resulted in reduced prices. Millers had to lower prices to move stock. The market for DOC is expected to recover once the export demand for peanut seeds and oil picks up
