New Delhi. Although during the week of 12-18 April, there was good arrival of peanuts in Rajkot, Gujarat and normal arrival in Jhansi, Mahoba and Mauranipur of Uttar Pradesh, but due to good buying by millers and traders, some improvement was recorded in the prices.

Uttar Pradesh
With the arrival of 2-4 thousand bags in the markets of Uttar Pradesh, the price of peanuts increased by Rs 100-200 per quintal, but still it is running much below the MSP.

There was no significant fluctuation in prices due to limited trade in shelled peanut seeds, but the price of 50-60 count and 60-70 count seeds softened by Rs 600 per quintal in Nagpur. The demand from millers and exporters was weak.
Peanut oil
There was a mixed trend in the prices of peanut oil. The price of peanut oil softened by Rs 15 per 10 kg in Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar of Gujarat, while it improved a bit in Rajkot. The price softened by Rs 10 due to weak demand in Ahmedabad. Due to limited demand of branded peanut oil in Kota, Rajasthan, the price fell by Rs 50 per tin (15 kg). Similarly, the price of filtered oil also remained either stable or softened a bit. After the Kharif season, now the arrival of Rabi crop of peanuts is starting, while the Zaid season crop will also come in the future. There is huge import of peanut seeds in the countries of South-East Asia but at present the demand there is seen to be less than normal.
