Peanut prices fluctuate by Rs 100 amid limited trading

New Delhi. The arrival of peanuts in the major markets of important producing states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh is relatively less and traders and millers are showing some interest in its purchase at some places while they are not active at other places. The sowing of Kharif peanuts is a little ahead of last year and the condition of the crop is said to be normal.
Arrival
During the week from 26 July to 1 August, daily arrival of peanuts in Rajkot market of Gujarat was between 3 to 6 thousand sacks but due to limited trading, its price remained at the previous level of Rs 5000/7500 per quintal.
Rajasthan
But due to some trading in Bikaner, Rajasthan, the price of peanuts improved by Rs 100 to Rs 5300. Due to weak demand from buyers in Solapur, Maharashtra, its price fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6500 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
The market in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a mixed trend. The price of peanuts increased by Rs 100 to Rs 4200/4800 in Jhansi and improved by Rs 25 to Rs 4500/4925 per quintal in Mauranipur, but fell by Rs 100 to Rs 4500/4900 per quintal in Mahoba. The daily arrival of peanuts was 1000-1500 bags in Jhansi, 350 bags in Mahoba and 550-850 bags in Mauranipur.
Peanut seeds
There was good business in some places in the shellless peanut seeds, due to which its price improved by Rs 100-200 per quintal. In Bikaner, the price of 40/50 count seeds increased by Rs 200 and the price of 60/70 count seeds increased by Rs 100 per quintal. Similarly, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, the price of 50/60 count increased by Rs. 100 and that of 60/70 count by Rs. 200.
Groundnut Oil
Demand and price of groundnut oil in loose form was weak. In Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar of Gujarat, the price fell by Rs. 25 to Rs. 1350 per 10 kg and the price of 15 kg teliya tin in Rajkot fell by Rs. 65 to Rs. 2165. The price of branded groundnut oil remained stable in Kota.
