Mixed trading of peanuts in the markets of Uttar Pradesh
New Delhi. With normal arrival and limited trading, the price of peanuts remained almost stable in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra during the week of August 2-8, but in Uttar Pradesh, it registered a rise and fall of Rs 100-200. There, its price improved by Rs 100 to Rs 4500/4800 per quintal in Jhansi and increased by Rs 200 to Rs 4500/5000 per quintal in Mahoba, but fell by Rs 150 to Rs 4500/4850 per quintal in Mauranipur.
Gujarat
The price of peanuts remained stable at Rs 5000/7500 in Rajkot, Gujarat, Rs 6500 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Rs 5300 in Bikaner and Rs 6500 per quintal in Solpur, Maharashtra.
Peanut seeds
No significant change was seen in the prices of peeled peanut seeds due to limited trading, but the price of 60/70 count seeds in Nagpur fell by Rs 100 to Rs 9700 per quintal.
Peanut oil
Due to good buying and selling of peanut oil in loose form, its price in Gujarat increased by Rs 40 and reached Rs 1340 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar. The price of 15 kg Teliya tin in Rajkot also improved by Rs 25 and reached Rs 2165.
Branded oil
On the other hand, in Kota, Rajasthan, due to weak demand for branded peanut oil, the price fell by Rs 50 to Rs 2400 per tin (15 liters), but the price of filtered peanut oil remained stable at the old level in Jaipur. An improvement of Rs 2000 per ton was recorded in peanut oilcake.
Sowing / Production
The Kharif season of groundnut sowing has reached its final stage. According to government data, its production area at the national level has come down from 43.50 lakh hectares last year to 42.60 lakh hectares this time, which is much behind the normal average area of 45.10 lakh hectares. Sowing is still going on in some areas. The support price of groundnut has been increased substantially.
