Demand for peanuts and its products is sluggish - no major change in prices
New Delhi. Kharif sowing of peanuts has almost ended and at the national level, its production area is running at the same level as last year. The condition of the crop is said to be good in most parts.
Arrivals
The pace of arrivals in major markets is normal and due to the balance between demand and supply, prices are seeing stability.
Peanuts
During the week of August 23-29, the price of peanuts remained stable at Rs 5300 per quintal in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Rs 6500 per quintal in Solapur, Maharashtra and Rs 4400/5000 per quintal in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, but increased by Rs 100 to Rs 4800/5200 per quintal in Mahoba and improved by Rs 50 to Rs 4700/4950 per quintal in Mauranipur. Arrival of peanuts was recorded at 2000 bags in Jhansi, 225/250 bags in Mahoba and 225 bags in Mauranipur daily.
Peanuts Seeds
Demand from millers and exporters remained weak for peeled peanuts. Indonesia has announced a ban on import of peanuts from India from 3rd September till further orders, which may lead to some softening in its prices. However, shipment of old deals will continue. In Bikaner, the price of 40/50 count grains remained stable at the previous level of Rs. 9000 per quintal, 50/60 count at Rs. 8600 and 60/70 count at Rs. 8300 per quintal. In Nagpur, Maharashtra also, the price of 50/60 count grains remained stable at Rs. 10300 and 60/70 count at Rs. 9700 per quintal.
Groundnut oil
Demand for loose groundnut oil remained weak due to which its price in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar of Gujarat fell by Rs 25 to Rs 1325 per 10 kg. The price of 15 kg teliya tin in Rajkot also fell by Rs 35 to Rs 2130. Apart from this, the price of groundnut oil in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad also fell by Rs 20-25 per 10 kg.
Branded oil
The price of branded groundnut oil remained stable at Rs 2400 per tin (15 liters) in Kota while the price of filtered groundnut oil fell by Rs 25 per 10 kg in Jaipur and Newai / Tonk. DOC prices also softened.
