Prices rise in Rajkot-Solapur - UP markets sluggish
New Delhi. Mixed trend was seen in the trade and price of peanuts during the week of 6-12 September. On one hand, its price jumped by Rs 750 to Rs 6000/8000 per quintal in Rajkot, Gujarat and by Rs 300 in Solapur, Maharashtra to Rs 6800 per quintal, while on the other hand, it fell by Rs 300 to Rs 4400/4800 per quintal in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh (UP), by Rs 100 to Rs 4800/5000 per quintal in Mahoba and by Rs 100 to Rs 4600/4900 per quintal in Mauranipur. In Bikaner, Rajasthan too, the price of peanuts fell by Rs 100 to Rs 5200 per quintal.
Arrival
During the week under review, daily arrival of groundnut was 2000-4000 bags in Rajkot, 1000-1500 bags in Jhansi, 100-125 bags in Mahoba and 200/250 bags in Mauranipur. Price of shelled groundnut kernels declined by Rs. 1000/1200 per quintal in Bikaner as millers and exporters showed little interest in its purchase. Due to temporary ban on import of Indian groundnut by Indonesia, activity of exporters has decreased.
Groundnut oil
Due to sluggish trade of groundnut oil in loose form, the price fell by Rs. 25 to Rs. 1325 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar of Gujarat. Price of 15 kg teliya tin in Rajkot fell by Rs. 10 to Rs. 2140. Groundnut oil prices also remained soft in Ahmedabad, Bikaner Newai/Tonk and Chennai.
Branded oil
The price of branded groundnut oil remained stable at Rs 2350 per tin (15 litres) in Kota while there was no significant change in the prices of filtered groundnut oil in Jaipur and Newai/Tonk. Sowing of groundnut during Kharif season has ended. The area has increased in Gujarat.
