Pea prices fall due to sluggish demand
Kanpur. Pea prices declined during the current week due to increased selling pressure at higher prices and sluggish demand. International prices of yellow peas and lentils continue to fall due to increased supply of new goods and weak demand. 75% of the pea crop has been harvested in Canada, which has produced 26 lakh tonnes, while in the US, 87% of the harvest has been completed and 7.72 lakh tonnes of goods have been received. The Canadian Grain Council report says that although the domestic market price of peas has fallen considerably, it has not had much of an adverse effect on the sales of producers. Farmers are showing interest in selling their stock even at lower prices.
Due to increased selling by importers and sluggish demand, imported peas witnessed a decline of Rs 50/75 per quintal during the current week and the prices remained at Mumbai Canada Rs 3450/3500, Russia Rs 3250 and Mudra Canada Rs 3250/3300 and Russia Rs 3100 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Kolkata peas prices also declined by Rs 25/50 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Canada Rs 3750/3775 and Russia Rs 3375/3425 per quintal at the weekend. Due to weak buying, Kanpur peas prices declined by Rs 50 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Rs 3450/3500 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Lalitpur peas prices declined by Rs 50 per quintal this week and remained at Rs 3150/3300 per quintal at the weekend. Due to weak demand, Mahoba peas witnessed a fall of Rs. 100 per quintal this week and the price remained at Rs. 3200/3400 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, Rath peas also fell by Rs. 50 per quintal this week and remained at Rs. 3000/3250 per quintal at the weekend. Due to the impact of all-round decline and sluggish demand, the prices of peas in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a fall of Rs. 50/75 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Rs. 2950/3250 for Bina and Rs. 3175/3275 per quintal for Damoh at the weekend.

Due to sluggish demand, the prices of peas dal declined by Rs. 50 per quintal during the last week and with this decline, the prices remained at Rs. 3850/3900 for Kanpur and Rs. 4000/4100 per quintal for Indore at the weekend.
