Due to off season, the arrival of paddy and rice is less- price fluctuations
New Delhi. The area of Kharif paddy is ahead of last year and due to good monsoon rains, the condition of the crop is also said to be better. Harvesting and preparation of the new crop will start in October. Meanwhile, new stock of 1509 Basmati paddy is arriving in Uttar Pradesh, but due to high moisture content in it, its price is going down.
Delhi
During the week of August 8 to 14, the price of 1509 hand paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi slipped by Rs 15 to Rs 2340 per quintal and the price of 1718 fell by Rs 400 to Rs 3600 per quintal. On the other hand, the price of HMT and Shriram paddy improved by Rs 100 each in Bhatpara Mandi of Chhattisgarh because good demand was seen from the millers. In Rajim Mandi also, Swarna paddy increased by Rs 80.
Uttar Pradesh
In Jahangirabad of Uttar Pradesh, the price of 1509 paddy increased by Rs 150 to Rs 2000/2500 per quintal, while in Shahjahanpur, the price of 1121 and PR 13 paddy fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 3000/3100 and Rs 1600/1800 per quintal respectively. In Khair Mandi, the price of 1509 paddy increased by Rs 200 to Rs 2000/2500. Now the interest of millers and exporters has started increasing in the purchase of 1509 paddy. The arrival there has also come down from 10000 bags to 2000 bags.
Haryana
In Tarawadi Mandi of Haryana, the price of 1509 paddy decreased by Rs 150 to Rs 2350 per quintal. The total arrival of paddy in the market is increasing. In Rajasthan's Bundi, the price of 1509 fell by Rs 400 to Rs 1800/1900 per quintal.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, its price remained stable in most of the markets with sluggish business, but in Delhi's Naya Bazar, it fell by Rs 100 to Rs 300. The price of 1718 steam rice improved to Rs 7600/8000 per quintal, but the price of 1401 steam fell by Rs 300 to Rs 7400 per quintal. The export performance of Basmati rice was better till last month. Exporters will get some relief in rice export due to reduction in container freight. The government has not yet reduced the minimum export price.
