Soybean Prices Rise in Maharashtra Driven by Strong Mill Buying
New Delhi: Driven by robust buying from crushing and processing units, the plant delivery price of soybean in Maharashtra recorded an increase of ₹150–160 per quintal during the week of April 11–17, while Madhya Pradesh witnessed a rise of ₹50–100. Rajasthan, however, observed a mixed trend. Soybean arrivals in the *mandis* (wholesale markets) remained slightly below normal levels. In all three states, the plant delivery price for soybean is currently trading above the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Soy Oil (Refined)
However, due to weakening demand at higher price levels, refined soy oil prices witnessed a significant decline of up to ₹5 per kilogram. The price drop observed in Madhya Pradesh was less pronounced compared to that in Maharashtra.
Mumbai
To reduce their inventory levels, mills were compelled to lower their price points slightly. While the price in Mumbai remained stable at its previous level of ₹1,500 per 10 kg, it slipped by ₹10 to ₹1,510 per 10 kg in Kandla; fell by ₹20 to ₹1,540 per 10 kg in Kota; and dropped by ₹50 to ₹1,460 per 10 kg in Haldia. Prices for Crude Degummed Soy Oil remained soft at the Kandla port.
Soy Meal (DOC)
Soy DOC witnessed moderate domestic and export demand, resulting in a price recovery of ₹500–1,000 per tonne. At one facility in Maharashtra, the price of soy meal surged by ₹1,000, reaching a high of ₹44,000 per tonne.
Sowing
Soybean sowing is scheduled to commence in June; however, there is currently some uncertainty regarding whether weather conditions and the monsoon will prove favorable this season.
