Fall in Turmeric Prices: Not Much Slowdown

New Delhi. Currently, there is a decline in the prices of turmeric. Although the daily arrivals in the markets of the producing centers are decreasing, but currently due to the decrease in export trade, the prices are being quoted softly. It is worth mentioning that it was being estimated that the export business will be good during the month of May. But due to increasing tension on the borders, the export demand is getting completely affected. During the current week, the prices of turmeric in spot and futures have been sluggish. But sources say that the prices of turmeric will definitely rise in the coming days. Because the daily arrival of turmeric has started decreasing on the Marathwada line as well. In the futures market, the price of turmeric May opened at Rs 14900 and closed at Rs 14050 at the end of the week. Whereas the futures of June closed at Rs 14200 at the end of the week, while the price opened at Rs 14600 at the beginning of the week.
inflows started decreasing
Arrival of turmeric has started decreasing in the markets of the producing centers. Because most of the total production has already arrived in the markets. According to the information received, the arrival in Erode market has decreased to 3/4 thousand bags. While 2000/2500 bags are arriving in Nizamabad. Arrival in Sangli has also come down to 2500/3000 bags. Arrival in Hingoli market of Marathwada has come down to 5000/5500 bags. While 3/4 thousand bags are arriving in Basmat and Nanded. Arrival in Warangal and Dugirala, Kadapa line is running limited.
Possibility of rise
Knowledgeable sources say that there is no possibility of decline in the current prices of turmeric. Because there is news that the availability of turmeric during the current season is less than the consumption. It is worth mentioning that the total requirement of turmeric including domestic consumption and export is more than one crore bags. Whereas the total availability will be 80/82 lakh bags including the new crop of 70/72 lakh bags and the outstanding stock of 10/12 lakh bags. Sources believe that there is a possibility of increase in the prices of turmeric by 10/15 rupees per kg during the months of June-July. Because with the decrease in arrivals in the markets, in the coming days, apart from the exporters, local demand will also improve. Due to the bullish business attitude in the market, even the stockist will not sell the goods at reduced prices. Currently, the price of turmeric single polish bundle in Delhi market is Rs 145/148. Which is being estimated to increase to Rs 156/160 in the coming days.
Possibility of increase in sowing
Informed sources say that during the current season also, it is estimated that the sowing of turmeric will be more at the production centers for the second year. It is noteworthy that the sowing of turmeric on the Nizamabad line will start in the month of June. Whereas in other states, sowing will be in full swing in the month of July.
