Limited fluctuations in wheat prices due to weak arrival and business
New Delhi. Although unusual rise and fall in wheat prices was seen in Dewas and Ujjain of Madhya Pradesh during the week of 17-23 May, its prices in the markets of other states were limited. Actually, the arrival of wheat in the markets has started decreasing and the pace of its buying remains sluggish.
Delhi
During the week under review, the price of wheat improved by Rs 5 to Rs 2745/2750 per quintal in Delhi and increased by Rs 30 to Rs 2470/2880 per quintal in Indore, while in Dewas it decreased by Rs 250 to Rs 2500/2650 per quintal. On the other hand, the price of wheat in Ujjain jumped by Rs 390 to Rs 2425/3000 per quintal. In other markets of the state, the price either remained stable or there was minor fluctuation in it. The process of government procurement of wheat has ended in Punjab and Haryana and in Madhya Pradesh too, its procurement is practically non-existent or negligible. But procurement is continuing in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
