Wheat Output Rises in Argentina and Western Australia

Chicago. In Argentina, the Latin American country, the Rosario Grain Exchange has raised its wheat production forecast for the 2024-25 season by 500,000 tons to 19.3 million tons, the third-highest in the past 15 years.
Previously, wheat production in Argentina exceeded this figure in 2021 and 2019. Approximately 60% of the area in Argentina has been harvested.
Similarly, wheat production estimates in Western Australia have been increased by 500,000 tons to 10.8 million tons due to better-than-expected average yields.
However, recent rains in eastern Australia are not only delaying harvests but are also likely to adversely affect wheat grain quality. This could reduce milling-quality wheat production while increasing feed-quality yields.
Wheat harvest preparations have already concluded in the Northern Hemisphere—Russia, Ukraine, the United States, Canada, France, and Germany.
The US Department of Agriculture has estimated a decline in the US's final wheat surplus, suggesting a potential improvement in export performance.
However, wheat exports from Russia are expected to decline from 4.1 million tons in November to between 3.3-3.5 million tons in December.
In India, the wheat sown area is 700,000-800,000 hectares ahead of last year, while weather and rainfall conditions in major producing states have begun to improve.
For the past three to four days, intermittent rains have occurred in Delhi-NCR and the northwestern states, lowering temperatures. The wheat crop will now require more sunshine. The government has set a wheat production target of 115 million tons.
