World rice prices
India
5% parboiled rice: 444-450$/ton (no change from last week)
5% broken white rice: 450-458$/ton
Vietnam
5% broken rice: 509$/ton (517$/ton last week)
Thailand 5% broken rice: 510-515$/ton (510$/ton last week)
★ Exports of Indian rice expected to increase due to low prices, good demand coming from African countries.
★ Exports are also being made to Bangladesh.
★ Exports are expected to increase further in the future, which may affect the prices of rice in India.

Rice exports from India to Sri Lanka started
★ According to custom data, 1900 tons of rice was imported from India from 5 December to 12 December.
★ Sri Lankan government has approved imports till 20 December.
★ I Grain India believes that this period can be extended.
★ India donated 2200 tons of rice to Myanmar as humanitarian aid.
★ This rice will be distributed in flood affected areas.
