4.83 lakh tonnes of palm oil imported from Indonesia in November

In November 2024, India imported a total of 15.90 lakh tonnes of edible oil, with Indonesia being the largest supplier, accounting for over 25% of the total imports. Indonesia exported 4.83 lakh tonnes of edible oil to India, which included 2.40 lakh tonnes of RBD palmolein and 2.43 lakh tonnes of crude palm oil.

Argentina followed as the second-largest supplier, sending 3.59 lakh tonnes of edible oil, consisting of crude degum soybean oil and sunflower oil. Malaysia came in third, contributing 3.14 lakh tonnes of edible oil, including refined palmolein and crude palm oil.

Additionally, smaller quantities of edible oils were imported from Thailand, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, and other countries. Notably, Thailand sent 13 thousand tonnes of crude palm oil, while Brazil exported 22 thousand tonnes of crude soy oil. Russia provided 2.26 lakh tonnes of edible oils, including crude soybean oil and sunflower oil.

Ukraine contributed over 1.15 lakh tonnes of crude sunflower oil. The total imports in November marked the beginning of a significant rise in edible oil imports for the current marketing season of 2024-25.
