Andhra Telangana gets Rs 3448 crore assistance for flood relief

New Delhi. The Central Government has decided to provide Rs 3448 crore financial assistance to the South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for flood relief.

Announcing this, the Union Agriculture Minister had said last week that financial assistance will be provided immediately to these two states from the 'State Disaster Response Fund' (SDRF) so that relief and rescue work can be carried out speedily in the flood affected areas.

According to the Agriculture Minister, all the processes have been started to provide this assistance from SDRF.

This fund is already available with the states, which also includes the participation of the Center.

The Agriculture Minister announced this financial assistance after visiting both the flood affected states.

According to the Agriculture Minister, after providing immediate financial assistance, the Central Government will also consider providing fertilizers and seeds to the farmers for the next crop in these two states so that the producers can get relief.

After visiting the flood affected areas of Khammam district in Telangana, the Union Agriculture Minister has said that necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the flood affected farmers get the benefit of crop insurance and they can get help for sowing the next crop.

All the horticultural crops including turmeric have been destroyed there. Banks will be asked to stop the loan repayment process in this hour of disaster.
