New Delhi. There is currently no sign of a price rise in Badamgiri (almond kernels). Due to an increase in imports during the month of April, prices have softened and are expected to decline further. Even today, Badamgiri prices dropped by Rs 10 to Rs 15 per kg, bringing the rate in the Delhi market down to Rs 805–810 per kg.

Import

According to available data, April 2025 saw the highest almond imports since October 2023. Notably, in October 2023, 1523 containers of almonds were imported, while in April 2025, the figure was close at 1454 containers. In comparison, 1204 containers were imported in November 2023 and 1206 in December 2023. During 2024, almond imports crossed 1000 containers in January, April, May, September, and December, while remaining low in the other months. The lowest import volume was recorded in July 2024 with just 610 containers.

No rise yet

According to informed sources, there is little chance of a price increase for almonds this month. On one hand, large volumes of imports have created surplus availability, while on the other hand, consumption is expected to decrease during the summer season. As a result, prices are expected to stay low for now.

However, prices may begin to rise in June. Traders anticipate that the almond stock in the US remains limited and the new crop is expected to arrive only in August. Therefore, a good upward movement in prices is likely before the arrival of fresh produce. Current prices of US almonds are being quoted at $2.50 to $2.55 per pound. Importers estimate that only 15–20 percent of the stock remains in the US, while there are still three months of consumption to go, which is keeping the market sentiment bullish.
