Biometric Authentication Necessary for Pulses and OIlseed procurement.
★ From Kharif 2025 onwards, biometric authentication will be mandatory for the government procurement of pulses and oilseeds at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Point-of-Sale (PoS) machines will be used for this process.
★ The goal is to ensure that only genuine farmers benefit from the MSP scheme and to prevent fraud. Farmers will be required to register in advance on the portal using their Aadhaar.
★ The procurement window will last for 60 days and can be extended by another 30 days if necessary. Purchase details must be uploaded to the portal immediately after procurement.
★ To curb fraudulent activities by traders, purchases made during the final weeks will be closely monitored.
★ In 2024-25, the government approved the procurement of 6 million tonnes of oilseeds and 5 million tonnes of pulses — the highest ever approved so far.
