★ Seeding is progressing well, with 31% of the pea crop planted as of last week.
★ Export demand to China remains weak due to tariffs.
★ India has allowed pea imports only until May 31, and there is a strong likelihood that import tariffs will be reinstated after that.
★ Meanwhile, Russia continues to increase its pea shipments to India, putting Canadian prices at a competitive disadvantage.

Lentils
★ Market activity remains slow, and sentiment is subdued.
★ New crop bookings for red and large green lentils are lagging behind last year's pace, while bookings for small green lentils are more in line with 2024 levels.
★ Some buyers may become more active in large green lentils ahead of harvest, but for now, most are in wait-and-see mode.
★ Old crop large green lentils: $0.45–$0.47/lb
New crop large green lentils: $0.39–$0.42/lb
Old crop small green lentils: $0.40–$0.42/lb
New crop small green lentils: $0.34–$0.36/lb
Old crop red lentils: $0.33/lb
New crop red lentils: $0.28–$0.30/lb FOB farm
As of May 5, lentil seeding in Saskatchewan was 34% complete. If favorable weather continues, seeding could cross the halfway mark in this week’s update.
