CONAB has reported maize production in Brazil at 1220 lakh tons and soybean production at 1660 lakh tons.
★ In the February crop report, CONAB revised Brazil's soybean production estimate for the 2024/25 season by reducing it by 300,000 tons to 1660 lakh tons, while the maize production estimate was increased to 1220 lakh tons from January's 1195 lakh tons, a 24 lakh ton rise.
★ Soybean planting in Brazil for 2024/25 is reported to have increased by 100,000 hectares to 474.5 lakh hectares, which is 2.8% more than the previous year.
★ The increase in Brazil’s maize production is mainly due to higher output from the first maize crop and the Safrinha (second crop).
★ Brazil’s total maize production for 2024/25 is estimated at 1220 lakh tons, which is 63 lakh tons or 5.5% more than the previous year.
★ As of last week, 16.7% of the soybean crop in Brazil had been harvested, which is lower than the 23.8% harvested last year and the average of 21.4%.
★ In Mato Grosso and Paraná, 28% of the soybean crop has been harvested.
★ The harvest pace is expected to accelerate in the next 1-2 weeks due to reduced rainfall and more crops ripening.
