According to the weekly Crop Progress report released after Monday’s market close, 94% of the U.S. corn crop had emerged as of June 14, which is 1 percentage point above the five-year average. Crop condition ratings improved to 68% good-to-excellent, up 1 percentage point from the previous week. The Brugler500 Index also increased by 1 point to 373.
The weekly Export Inspections report showed U.S. corn shipments of 1.636 million metric tons (64.43 million bushels) for the week ending June 11. This was down 18.73% from the previous week and 3.47% lower than the same week last year. Mexico was the largest buyer, importing 440,116 metric tons, followed by Japan with 225,898 metric tons and Taiwan with 153,375 metric tons. Total corn shipments for the current marketing year have reached 65.614 million metric tons (2.583 billion bushels), up 26.01% from the same period last year. Sorghum exports totaled 313,616 metric tons, with nearly all shipments destined for China.
According to AgRural, Brazil’s second corn crop harvest in the center-south region reached 8.4%, ahead of last year’s pace of 5.2%.
