Cotton availability 330.93 lakh bales by the end of May

Ahmedabad. According to the new report of Cotton Association of India - a leading industry-trade organization,

the total availability of cotton within the country in the current marketing season of 2023-24 reached 330.93 lakh bales, which includes previous outstanding stock of 28.90 lakh bales,

import of 5.50 lakh bales and domestic arrival of 296.53 lakh bales. Out of this, domestic use of 212 lakh bales and export of 23 lakh bales took place till 31 May 2024.

It is known that each bale of cotton weighs 170 kg. The association has estimated the total availability of cotton to reach 363 lakh bales during the entire marketing season of 2023-24 with outstanding stock of 28.90 lakh bales, production of 317.70 lakh bales and import of 16.40 lakh bales. Out of this,

317 lakh bales are likely to be used domestically and 26 lakh bales are likely to be exported, due to which a surplus stock of 20 lakh bales of cotton is likely to remain in the country at the end of the current marketing season on 30 September 2024.
