Exports of Apparel and Clothing Rise by 2.1 Percent

New Delhi. During the financial year 2024-25, India exported apparel and textile goods (including handloom products) worth ₹3,09,859.30 crore; this figure rose to ₹3,16,334.90 crore in the financial year 2025-26, marking an increase of 2.1 percent.
According to a report by the Union Ministry of Textiles, this growth in exports—achieved despite numerous challenges and hurdles—serves as a clear indication that the global demand for Indian textile products remains robust and that India's competitive edge across all major product categories remains intact.
It is noteworthy that in the United States—the primary export market for Indian textile products—a 50 percent import duty was imposed on Indian goods for a certain period.
Furthermore, the severe conflict between the US and Iran in March 2026 significantly disrupted trade across West Asia, the Middle East, and the Gulf region. Yet, despite these adverse conditions, exports did not decline on an annual basis; instead, they registered a modest increase. This comes as a matter of relief for the industry.
