Free Rabi Pulse Seeds to Be Distributed to Farmers

Basti. Like various districts of Uttar Pradesh, minikits of pulses seeds like gram, lentil and peas will be made available free of cost to selected and registered farmers in Basti district for sowing in the upcoming Rabi season.

It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh is the leading producer of peas, while it ranks second after Madhya Pradesh in the production of lentils. Gram is also cultivated on a large scale in Uttar Pradesh. Sowing of pulses is likely to start from next month.

According to this Agriculture Director of Basti district, 18 kg gram, 20 kg pea and 8 kg lentil seed minikits will be made available free of cost to the farming community for the Rabi season of 2025-26 under the free pulse crop seed minikit distribution and dissemination program announced by the state government.

To avail the benefits of this scheme, farmers will have to compulsorily book / apply online on Krishi Darshan-2 portal. The beneficiaries of the minikit will be selected by the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate through e-lottery method.

According to the Deputy Director of Agriculture, the process of online booking has started from today i.e. 1 September 2025, which will continue till 25 September.

According to the prevailing rule, only one pulse seed minikit will be given to each farmer. This means that if a farmer gets a gram minikit, then he will not get pea and lentil seeds. Only farmers registered with the Agriculture Department will be able to get the benefit of this scheme.

The Uttar Pradesh government is continuously making rapid efforts to increase the production of pulses in the state. The government intends to make the state self-sufficient in the production of pulses.

Special instructions have been issued to the Agriculture Department for this. This time there has been good rain in Uttar Pradesh, due to which farmers can get an opportunity to start early sowing of Rabi period pulses.
