Government Targets 10 Lakh Tonnes of Tuvar for Buffer Stock Key Points:

• Buffer stock goal: 10 lakh tonnes of Arhar (Tuvar) for 2025-26.
• Purpose: Stabilize supply & prevent price surges during the off-season.
• Estimated Production (2024-25):
  • Govt Estimate: 35.10 lakh tonnes
  • Industry Estimate: 38.40 lakh tonnes

Procurement & Pricing:

• MSP for 2024-25: ₹7,550/quintal
• Current Market Price: Near or below MSP
• Procurement Progress:
  • Already procured: 2 lakh tonnes
  • Target by March-end: 5 lakh tonnes

Other Measures:

• Duty-free import extended till March 31, 2026, ensuring a steady supply from Myanmar & Africa.
• Government committed to 100% procurement of tuvar, urad, and masoor at MSP.
