Government confident of good wheat procurement despite high market price

It seems like the government is putting in a lot of effort to ensure successful wheat procurement despite the high market prices.

The fact that wheat procurement numbers improved in 2023 and 2024, even when prices were higher, shows a good sign of recovery from the low procurement numbers in 2022.

The added incentive of bonuses above MSP in states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh could further encourage farmers to sell to the government.

It’s interesting how despite challenges like inflation and higher market prices, the government seems to have found ways to boost procurement, especially with ongoing discussions and plans to meet procurement targets.

The combination of targeted efforts and incentivizing states and farmers might prove crucial in the coming season.

Do you think the government’s efforts will be enough to meet their procurement goals, or do you foresee potential challenges ahead?
