India – Yellow Pea Import Estimates (FY 2025–26)
★ In the April–June quarter of FY 2025–26, India is estimated to import a total of 1,75,218 metric tons of yellow peas (HS Code: 07131010). This is significantly lower than the 8,31,138 metric tons imported during the same period in FY 2024–25.

Breakdown compared over the past three years:
★ In April 2025, imports are estimated at 79,975 tons, down from 4,02,548.3 tons in April 2024.
★ In May 2025, 74,028 tons were imported, compared to 2,84,181.3 tons in May 2024.
★ For June 2025, expected imports stand at 21,215 tons, versus 1,44,409 tons in June 2024.
★ Between April and June 2025, India imported 77,203.90 tons of yellow peas from Canada, 64,428 tons from Russia, 26,261 tons from Argentina, and 6,761 tons from other countries.
★ This reflects a steep drop of 6,55,920 tons in yellow pea imports during the April–June quarter of FY 2025–26 compared to the same period last year.
★ In FY 2023–24, no imports were recorded between April and June, but total annual imports stood at 11,69,210 tons.
★ Currently, both Russia and Canada have limited stock available, with traders awaiting the arrival of new crops. Russia is expecting a record production of 5 million tons this year, with fresh arrivals potentially reaching India by September. Canadian crop arrivals are expected by October.
★ Existing stock at ports is being consumed gradually. A slight increase in prices is expected before the new Russian crop arrives.
