Indian Rice Export Prices Hit 10-Month High

Hyderabad. Export offer prices for Indian non-basmati rice have risen to a 10-month high due to growing concerns over El Niño and high paddy prices. Meanwhile, rice prices in Thailand have also seen a sharp increase.

The export offer price for Indian parboiled (sella) rice with 5% broken grains has reached $358–$364 per tonne, while the offer price for white rice with 5% broken grains stands at $357–$363 per tonne; these price levels remain unchanged from last week.

According to a leading exporter, concerns regarding rice supplies are mounting due to El Niño, yet foreign importers are showing keen interest in purchasing the grain despite the price hikes. Indian rice exports grew by 5% during the first half of 2026. Although Basmati rice exports to Gulf nations declined slightly during this period due to the Iran-US conflict, this was easily offset by increased shipments of non-basmati rice to Africa and other Asian countries.

Meanwhile, in Thailand, the export offer price for rice with 5% broken grains rose from $450 per tonne last week to $455–$460 per tonne this week. Fears of a decline in rice production due to the impact of El Niño are leading to a downward revision of the overall export target.
