India’s Edible Oil Total Stocks Declined in First Half of 2025
★ India witnessed a decline in total ending stocks during the first six months of 2025.
★ In January 2025, the total stock stood at 9.08 lakh tonnes, which dropped to 8.40 lakh tonnes in February and further to 8.20 lakh tonnes in March.
★ By April, the stock fell sharply to 7 lakh tonnes, with a slight recovery in May (7.50 lakh tonnes) and June (7.40 lakh tonnes).
★ This is still higher than the corresponding figures in 2024, when June stocks were at 7.13 lakh tonnes.

In 2024, a sharp rise was seen post-June:
★ 9.88 lakh tonnes in July,
★ 10.41 lakh tonnes in August,
★ 9.31 lakh tonnes in September.
★ A similar trend is expected from July to September 2025, with stocks likely to increase.
★ With upcoming festive season demand, there are strong chances of increased imports to ensure supply and price stability.
