According to Crop Progress data, as of July 27, 76% of the U.S. corn crop was in the silking stage, 1 point below the 5-year average. About 26% of the crop had reached the dough stage, compared to the average of 24%. Crop condition ratings were down 1 point to 73% good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index at 384. By state, Indiana was down 2 points, Missouri down 3, Minnesota down 5, and Texas down 6. Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska saw a 2-point improvement, South Dakota was up 3 points, North Dakota up 5, and Ohio up 6.
The weekly ethanol production update will be released on Wednesday, with expectations of a slight decline in output for the week ending July 25.
A South Korean importer purchased a total of 132,000 tonnes of corn in an overnight tender. A Taiwanese importer also issued a tender for 65,000 tonnes of corn.
ANEC raised its estimate for Brazil’s July corn exports to 4.18 MMT, slightly higher than the previous 4.14 MMT estimate and up from 3.55 MMT last year.
