ICE cotton futures closed Monday’s session 11 to 39 points higher. Crude oil futures were up $1.79 per barrel, and the U.S. dollar index rose by $0.996 to 98.295.
According to weekly Crop Progress data, as of July 27, 80% of the U.S. cotton crop was squaring, and 44% was setting bolls. Crop conditions declined by 2% to 55% good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index down 2 points to 345.
The Seam reported sales of 125 bales on Friday at an average price of 57 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index rose 50 points to 79.20 cents on July 25. ICE-certified cotton stocks were steady at 21,617 bales on July 25. USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) increased by 23 points last Thursday to 54.95 cents/lb, valid through this Thursday.
