ICE cotton futures saw a "Turnaround Tuesday" bounce, closing the session 66 to 99 points higher. Crude oil futures declined by 9 cents per barrel, while the U.S. Dollar Index rose by $0.503 to $99.900.
According to the weekly Crop Progress report, 5% of the U.S. cotton crop had been planted — behind the average pace of 8%. Only Alabama, Arizona, Missouri, and Tennessee were ahead of average, while Texas was 5 percentage points behind at 8%.
The Seam reported only 863 cash bales sold on April 14 at an average price of 58.60 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index dropped 20 points on Monday to 78.10 cents/lb. ICE cotton stocks remained steady on April 14, with certified stocks totaling 14,478 bales.
USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) fell by 212 points last week to 53.10 cents/lb.
