USDA reported a private export sale of 225,000 MT of soybeans to Pakistan for the 2025/26 marketing year this morning.
For the week ending May 1, USDA recorded total soybean sales of 376,653 MT, down from the previous week and 12.2% below the same week last year. Mexico was the top buyer with 153,800 MT, and 129,800 MT were sold to unknown destinations. China now has just over 66,000 MT in unshipped sales. New crop sales were only 9,758 MT.
Soybean meal sales totaled 122,213 MT, with 111,896 MT for the current marketing year—well below market expectations of 200,000 to 400,000 MT. Bean oil bookings were 15,711 MT, near the upper end of the expected range of between net reductions of 5,000 MT and sales of 20,000 MT.
The USDA’s May WASDE report will be released on Monday. The old crop soybean ending stocks are expected to be 369 million bushels, down 6 million from last month. The first projection for new crop stocks is estimated at 362 million bushels.
Statistics Canada reported this morning that canola stocks at the end of March totaled 5.869 MMT, a 38.7% decline from last year.
The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange raised Argentina’s soybean production estimate by 1.4 MMT to 50 MMT.
