International Soybean Market
The USDA announced a private export deal of 120,000 MT of soybeans to Pakistan for the 2025/26 marketing year.
CFTC data shows that as of Tuesday, managed money reduced its net long position in soybean futures and options by 16,332 contracts, leaving a total of 21,870 contracts.
In soybean meal futures and options, speculators held a record net short position of 103,457 contracts.
USDA Export Sales data places total soybean sales (shipped + unshipped) at 47.72 MMT, up 13% year-over-year, representing 96% of USDA’s forecast (compared to the typical 97% pace).
In Monday’s WASDE report, Brazil’s soybean production is expected to increase by 0.17 MMT to 169.17 MMT, while Argentina’s output is expected at 49.25 MMT, slightly above April’s 49 MMT.
World soybean carryout for 2024/25 is expected to remain steady at 122.5 MMT, with new crop carryout at 126.02 MMT.
China’s April soybean imports were at a 10-year low of 6.08 MMT, although higher than March’s 3.5 MMT.
