Export Inspections data showed soybean shipments of 980,518 metric tons (51.2 million bushels) during the week ending on New Year’s Day. This was up 24.3% from the previous week, but 26.7% lower than the same week last year. China was the largest destination with 397,069 metric tons, followed by Egypt at 182,553 metric tons and Taiwan at 74,996 metric tons. Total soybean shipments for the current marketing year have reached 16.4 million metric tons (602.64 million bushels), down 45.3% year over year.
Export Sales data for the week ending December 25 showed soybean sales of 1.178 million metric tons, which was within analysts’ expectations of 0.7 to 1.8 million metric tons. An additional 66,391 metric tons was sold for the 2026/27 marketing year. Sales for the current marketing year were higher than the previous week and more than double the same week last year.
Soybean meal sales totaled 110,642 metric tons, below estimates of 150,000 to 500,000 metric tons. Soybean oil sales were reported at 6,238 metric tons, within the expected range of 0 to 20,000 metric tons.
According to CFTC data for the week ending December 30, speculators reduced another 25,841 contracts from their net long position in soybean futures and options, bringing the net long down to 84,562 contracts.
StoneX estimates Brazil’s 2025/26 soybean production at 177.6 million metric tons, up 0.4 million metric tons from its previous estimate.
