According to Crop Progress data, by Sunday, 80% of the U.S. winter wheat crop had been harvested, 1% behind the average. Spring wheat was 95% headed, 3% behind normal, with harvest progress at 1%. Northern crop conditions fell by 3% to 49% good/excellent, while the Brugler500 index dropped 6 points to 332.
Export Inspections data showed 288,793 metric tons (10.61 million bushels) of wheat shipped in the week ending July 24. This was less than half the increase from the previous week and 38.33% below the same week last year. Of this total, 55,377 metric tons went to Nigeria, 51,159 metric tons to Japan, and 47,409 metric tons to Mexico. Since June 1, marketing year wheat shipments have totaled 3.31 million metric tons (17.21 million bushels), 5.92% higher than last year.
