According to the weekly Crop Progress report by NASS, 7% of the U.S. spring wheat crop has been planted, in line with the 5-year average. Winter wheat planting was also at 8%, matching the average pace.
Condition ratings for the winter wheat crop dropped by 1%, now at 47% good to excellent. The Brugler500 index, however, rose by 1 point to 329, reflecting a 2% shift out of the poor/very poor categories. Among HRW (Hard Red Winter) wheat states, crop conditions declined significantly — Nebraska fell 30 points, Colorado dropped 12, and Kansas was down 9 points.
France’s agriculture ministry estimated the country’s soft wheat area at 4.61 million hectares (11.44 million acres), a 10% increase from last year.
Argentina’s wheat crop for 2025/26 is estimated at 20.5 MMT by the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange, up from 18.6 MMT last year.
