International Wheat Market
U.S. Exports (Week of Dec 1): The U.S. exported 612,000 tons of wheat. Major buyers included Mexico (132,000 tons), Thailand (162,000 tons), and Japan (120,000 tons). Additionally, 12,000 tons of wheat were exported for the 2025-26 season.
Domestic Wheat Market
Delhi Prices: On December 30, wheat prices in Delhi closed higher at ₹3,130–3,140 per quintal.
OMSS Impact: Despite the OMSS (Open Market Sale Scheme) intervention, wheat prices remained strong, as previously forecasted by I-Grain India. Over 95% of wheat offered under OMSS was sold due to robust demand and competitive pricing.
Planting Report
Wheat Planting: Wheat sowing gained momentum, reaching 32 million hectares by year-end, about 700,000 hectares more than the previous season.
Rabi Crop Progress: Around 90% of rabi crop sowing is complete. Mustard sowing is finished, wheat is in its final phase, and other crops are nearing completion.
Farmer Preference: The planting trend indicates that farmers prioritize crops with higher market prices.
