Tehran. Iran has stated that it does not wish to enter into any conditional deal with the United States; rather, it is open to considering a comprehensive agreement that addresses all issues simultaneously.

Iran asserts that its rights over the Strait of Hormuz must be accorded legal recognition, the economic sanctions imposed upon it by the US must be eased or lifted, and its assets currently frozen abroad must be unfrozen.

Furthermore, Iran demands guarantees that neither it nor its proxy groups will be subjected to attacks, and that the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz be lifted immediately. The issue of its nuclear program, it suggests, could be a subject for subsequent negotiations.

On the other hand, the United States seeks for Iran to suspend its nuclear program for a minimum of 20 years and to fully open the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic. It also insists that no toll taxes be levied on vessels passing through the strait. Both parties remain firm in their respective demands. A decisive outcome regarding this situation is expected to emerge shortly. The opening of the Strait of Hormuz is of paramount importance to India.
