Korea Sesame Tender
★ The recent tender results were quite surprising. However, this tender has very little impact on sesame seed trade in India.
★ South Korea issued a tender for over 14,000 metric tons of sesame on June 18.
★ The purchased quantity turned out to be much lower—only 7,400 metric tons.
★ Indian suppliers won the entire bid of 2,400 metric tons in the P1 category, while the P2 category was mainly awarded to suppliers from Pakistan (4,400 metric tons).
★ In this category, Indian exporters secured bids for only slightly over 600 metric tons.
★ South Korea imported 22,687 metric tons of sesame seeds from January to April 2025, which is a 23% increase compared to 18,380 tons during the same period last year.
