Monsoon likely to become active in Bengal-Bihar in next 4-5 days

New Delhi. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has expressed the possibility of monsoon reaching many parts of Bengal and Bihar in the next 4-5 days. Due to heavy rains in Bengal and Sikkim in the past few days, there was a severe flood in the Teesta river,
due to which the life of the people got disrupted. On the other hand, heavy rains have been predicted in the southern state of Kerala on 17-18 June. Similarly,
torrential rains can also occur in some parts of Bengal. This will help in Kharif crops and especially paddy cultivation.
According to the Meteorological Department, the South-West monsoon has started advancing and soon it will become active in the Gangetic region of West Bengal,
Bihar, this Himalayan region of Bengal, some parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Conditions have started becoming favorable for the advancement of monsoon.
According to the Meteorological Department, the northern end of the monsoon is currently passing through Navsari in Gujarat, Jalgaon, Amaravati and Chandrapur in Maharashtra,
Bijapur in Karnataka, Sukma in Chhattisgarh, Malkangiri in Odisha, Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh and Islampur in West Bengal.
Many states in eastern and northeastern India are going to receive heavy monsoon rains, but the weather in northern India will remain extremely hot and dry for the next four to five days. An orange alert has been issued for 'heat wave' in Delhi.
