Monsoon Situation in Madhya Pradesh
★ There is a clear regional imbalance in rainfall across Madhya Pradesh from June 1 to June 23, 2025, which is affecting Kharif sowing.
★ Northern districts such as Morena (+385%), Datia (+411%), Shivpuri (+223%), Singrauli (+205%), and Sagar (+170%) have received excessive rainfall, which is likely to support timely and healthy sowing in these areas.
★ Rainfall in eastern districts has been normal — Panna (+24%), Damoh (+38%), and Anuppur (+28%) — allowing sowing activities to begin on time.
★ On the other hand, western, central, and southern regions are facing significant rainfall deficits. Districts like Indore (-40%), Ujjain (-13%), Harda (-23%), Jabalpur (-41%), and Narsinghpur (-44%) have received much below normal rainfall. This shortfall may delay sowing operations and cause water stress in these areas.
★ Severe rainfall deficiency in tribal-dominated districts like Balaghat (-70%), Burhanpur (-61%), and Betul (-23%) is a matter of concern, as agriculture here is largely rain-dependent.
★ Overall, while the northern and eastern parts of the state have received good rainfall, the western, central, and southern regions are showing signs of drought-like conditions, leading to an uneven start to the Kharif cropping season.
